The European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) is dedicated to maritime affairs, fisheries, and aquaculture. It is the financial instrument of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP). It is one of the five European Structural
and Investment Funds, which complement each other and aim to stimulate recovery through growth and employment across the European Union.
Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) under EMFAF is both:
- A European initiative
- A national program
- Regional support
- Collective and innovative initiatives
- Local facilitation within territories
This mechanism is based on a bottom-up approach, where initiatives emerge directly from local areas through the involvement of local stakeholders, allowing for an effective response to identified needs.
It also encompasses a variety of themes, such as:
- Attractiveness of maritime professions
- Environmental protection
- Valorisation of marine resources
- Circular economy
- And more…
Through the CLLD approach, EMFAF promotes sustainable, innovative, and competitive fisheries and aquaculture.
Its goals include improving employment and strengthening territorial cohesion, supporting the marketing and processing of fishery and aquaculture products, and more.
