A special tool for small-scale fishers

Project leader: Maritime Cooperative of Azurean Fishers

Action sheet: FA 1 – Promote sustainable development of the blue economy sector within the Côte d’Azur Fisheries Local Action Group territory

La petite fabrique is a tool that promotes and diversifies the range of products offered by small-scale fishers. This project aims to develop recipes and enable their production. The initiative enters a key phase: its technical implementation and the launch of processed products from local fisheries. This step involves collaboration with specialised laboratories, regulatory compliance and targeted communication.

This project aims to :

  • Structure and professionalize the sector: share efforts to create a new market and customer base for fishers.
  • Promote local resources:  create a range of processed products (terrines, canned goods, ready meals) suited to local supply chains while meeting consumer expectations, promoting undervalued or invasive species to reduce ecological impact and diversify fishers’ incomes.
  • Promote local consumption: raise awareness among consumers and local stakeholders on the economic, social and environmental benefits of small-scale fishing products, to develop targeted communication and a strong visual identity to promote local fishing as a sustainable and high-quality alternative.

Project schedule:

March–August 2025: Product testing and development phase

September–February 2026: Communication and marketing phase

February 2026–February 2027: Monitoring and evaluation phase

Expected results:

  • Promotion of less popular species
  • Distribution of pressure on stocks
  • Regulating prices by spreading sales outside of the fishing seasons
  • Limiting losses and unsold stock
  • Developing local supply chains
