Action sheet: FA 2 – Maintain the balance of ecosystems within the Côte d’Azur Fisheries Local Action Group territory and mitigate the effects of climate change
Led by Zed Production, “Au nom de la mer” is part of an ambitious initiative to encourage action to preserve marine and coastal ecosystems. Funded by the Côte d’Azur Fisheries Local Action Group as part of Action Sheet 2, the documentary aims to raise environmental awareness among the general public and those involved in the fishing industry.
Following its initial broadcast on Ushuaïa TV for World Oceans Day, this documentary was screened in the Green Zone at the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice on the 9 of June 2025. This screening was part of an event co-organised by LIFE (Low Impact Fishers of Europe) association and Blue Ventures, focusing on small-scale artisanal fishing, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
This project aims to:
- highlight the fragility of marine ecosystem and the aftermaths on human activities, particularly related to climate change;
- encourage a transition to sustainable fishing practices that reconcile respect for natural resources with economic viability;
- raise awareness on biodiversity conservation by promoting local initiatives and sustainable management efforts;
- promote marine education through wide-scale broadcasting, both on television, through institutional events and local screenings. This project enables it to reach a wide audience, from fishing professionals to citizens and policymakers.
The project gives a voice to fishers, land managers, researchers and other committed stakeholders, offering a unique insight into new sustainable fishing practices, particularly local supply chains, responsible fishing labels and innovations in the field.
