On Friday 17 October, the second selection committee meeting of the Côte d’Azur FLAG was held, bringing together members of the selection and monitoring committee.

A total of eight projects were submitted for approval, all of which received a favourable opinion from the FLAG members.

The selected projects reflect the diversity of actions supported by the Côte d’Azur FLAG, including:

  • Economic diversification for fishers;
  • Development of short supply chains;
  • Protection and monitoring of cetaceans;
  • Promotion of sustainable tourism;
  • Reducing the impact of recreational fishing;
  • Training in marine ecosystem management;
  • Structuring fisheries and aquaculture value chains;
  • Communication and promotion of lifelong learning in blue economy professions.

These projects fully align with the objectives of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF): fostering a sustainable blue economy in coastal, island and inland areas, and supporting the development of fisheries and aquaculture communities.

Among the selected initiatives, two cooperation projects stand out:

  • The first, in partnership with the Thau and its Coastline FLAG (Occitanie);
  • The second, in collaboration with GALICA, the FLAG covering the Bouches-du-Rhône department.

These cooperation projects demonstrate a strong commitment to strengthening Mediterranean synergies for the sustainable and coherent development of the region.

The Côte d’Azur FLAG warmly thanks the members of the selection committee and project leaders for their involvement and commitment to local coastal development.
